NEW RELEASE!!
Introducing Penny Picklepants And the Twenty-Pickle Pie, by A.M. Jones. Penny Picklepants, as she is prone to remind everyone and anyone who will listen, is about to start the 6th grade, and that means that she is practically an adult… at least, according to Penny it does. If there are three things that define Penny Picklepants, they are: Shopping, Fashion, Pickles, and, well…...

Yay! Our latest app, Doodle Spy, was just released for all Android devices on the Google Play app market:
Introducing: Penny Picklepants
JANES Works Publishing is very excited to introduce Penny Picklepants, a novel by A.M. Jones. Penny Picklepants has just started the 6th grade and is on a quest to become the youngest pickle taster in the history of the family pickle plant. Unfortunately, Penny’s plans often have a way of going horribly awry. And this plan is no exception. Penny Picklepants, a novel by A.M. Jones, will be...

Birthdays... The Circle of Life
(Please sing the following ditty to the birthday song tune, as you sing to yourself…yes to yourself, you are no Lady Gaga, you may dress like her, meat dress in all but there is only one Lady Gaga and you are not her!)
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to all those whose birthdays were yesterday,
Happy birthday to me…and to you…and to you as well as the other person that...

Older, Fatter, and Grayer
I seem to always make fun of my age. It makes me feel better when I can laugh at myself and the fact that getting older really is not that enjoyable. Sure you gain wisdom as well as weight. Sure you understand the world better as well the law of gravity, if you get my drift. Sure you see things clearer as well as watching your hair go gray. A girl, who is 17, asked me why women fight aging so...

Oxymoron….Family Vacation
Family Vacation may sound more like an oxymoron than reality. It is a lot of work to get everybody ready for vacation. And let’s be honest, it is at the hands of the mother that gets the kids packed, you packed, your husband packed, the car packed, the snacks packed, the entertainment packed and everything else that can be packed, will be packed and may possibly be packed. Whether going by car or...
Super-Uber Smart….
Yes, I know, I know. It has been about two weeks since I last wrote something on our blog. But in true Internet fashion, the only people that have missed me are Russian naughty sites (well, at least I think it’s Russian naughty sites as my Russian is a little rusty) who continue to leave 10 messages a day. Okay so I don’t speak Russian, but still why do they have to leave messages? Do they not...

Long Story Short, The Field Trip Is Tomorrow….
Most parents would be utterly humiliated if they showed up a day early to chaperone their child’s field trip. The child would be utterly humiliated if their parent showed up a day early to chaperone their much anticipated field trip. Most parents would be a little frustrated arguing with their child, whom they are going to spend the entire day chaperoning their child’s field trip, over which day...

Child 44
I know, I know, I haven’t written on the blog for a week! However, we here at JANES Works Co. have been so busy getting our next app ready (are you excited, you should be) that we have dropped everything else and focused all efforts on our new app. But in the meantime, I still have had time to read a few good books, seen a few good movies and thus have recommitted to brining you, my 3 readers,...
The Circle of Life
Dear My Son N:
So you have decided to go against my wishes and demand to grow a year older. I told you at the ripe old age of 3 that you could never grow up. I guess this just proves the proven point that kids never listen to their parents.
I didn’t want you to grow up because I knew that the hugs would stop eventually, the taking naps on my lap would stop eventually and you thinking that...
You Obviously Don’t Watch a lot of Woody Allen...
When I think of Woody Allen (yes, the director not the cartoon character from Toy Story) I always think of <!—more—>a creepy old dude that married his adopted daughter. I never really think of the many movies that he has made throughout the years. I never saw “Annie Hall” and to be honest, I don’t really care too. Honestly, I don’t even think I could list more than 4 movies...

Valentine's Day According To....
Valentine’ Day According to Kids: Another party at school with the excuse to get jacked up on processed sugar. Wondering why <!—more—>their tongue is a strange color combination of white, pink, red, and blue, thank you red dye #40, for the next week. Loving the temporary tattoos of hearts, arrows and little men in diapers all over their arms, hands and faces and wondering why...
Happy Endings....
On Friday I actually left the house and it wasn’t to the grocery store. Yes, I left the house in jeans with my make-up and went to a movie. We went to see “The Vow” and I am still trying to figure out if I liked it or not.
Since the trailer I have wanted to see this movie. I mean who doesn’t want to see Channing Tatum for two hours bending over backwards to make the woman he fell in love...

A Little Less Devilish From Your Angels
Where did this week go? Are we already facing another weekend? I feel like I just recouped from dealing with three ornery kids last weekend and now I have to do it again! I mean I love my boys, they are my children for goodness sake, but there is something about the weekend that brings out their<!—more—> inner-evil.
I have scanned Pinterest a few times in hopes of finding a...

Thievery, Deceit, & Of Course Love
I have stumbled upon some really bad books on the free list however; I have stumbled upon some really great books on the free list. One such find was “eye of the god” by Ariel Allison. It is a historical fiction novel about the Hope Diamond. Miss Allison weaves a tale of thievery, deceit, and of course love throughout the ages all based upon the Hope Diamond.
Dr. Abigail Mitchell works for the...

Class and Sophistication
My plan of sitting around in my fatty-relaxing pants all weekend didn’t quite work out. Friday night was spent in my jammies (yes at 6:30 p.m.) in front of the T.V. However, I got a call Saturday morning informing me that we had received two free tickets to the Symphony for that night. You will laugh when you find out how we got them, are you ready for this, okay my niece’s, sister-in-law’s,...

Yes, I'm Old & I'm Totally Fine With It
When I was a teenager I couldn’t stand the thought of staying home on Friday night. It would literally drive me crazy knowing that everybody was out having fun without me. My friends and I would plan months, literally months, in advance all our Friday night outings. Maybe that is where I get my obsession for planning long term. Hmm, I will have to tell my therapist that, anyway moving on.

Can You Go To Jail For Laundering Math Flash...
A couple of years ago we bought math flash cards in hopes that it would help our boys out with their math skills. At first they thought it was pretty fun. They loved going over their 1’s and their 2’; they especially like going over their 0’s however, once they got into the ‘bigger’ numbers their enthusiasm quickly diminished.
So being a good mom (well at least sometimes), I made a rule that...
